Python 3 support?

Post by castertr0y357 » Tue Oct 08, 2019 2:19 am

First of all, I'd like to say a big thank you for all of the efforts you've put through to make Mylar a reality. It's good that you were able to take some time away and recharge, but I will admit that I'm glad to see some new commits coming down the pipeline.

Now, onto the question at hand, with Python 2 no longer getting support after this year, is there any initiative to support Python 3? I know that Python 2 isn't going to stop working, but with Python 3 being the focus for the future, are there any thoughts about re-writing any of the code? I know that's not an easy thing to just do, since there are thousands of lines of code written for Mylar, but I would like to see Mylar around for a long time.

I started my programming journey on Python 2 a few years ago, and when I came back to Python a year or so ago, I started using version 3, and I've gotten very accustomed to the syntax changes for different things. I also picked up Django while I was at it, and I've been enjoying using that to build some pretty in-depth apps. I'm not very familiar with CherryPy, but I'd be happy to try and help out where I can with some of the conversion if you ever do start that initiative.

Thanks!
