Keeps Downloading Covers

Post by TwistedDruid »

Hey all
So I'm having an issue where Mylar keeps pulling Covers of issues. I have the Minimum set to 15mb for search restrictions but the program keeps pulling files that are 1mb or below which are just covers. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Post your debug log or carepackage - and make sure that you've captured a recent search /download in the logs when it's in debug mode.

It might be provider related as it will also depend on if the provider responds with a valid file size.

Unfortunately I don't see anything being snatched in those logs so I can't see if it's pulling anything covers related or not.

You'll have to try and grab something and get the logs again - you can use pastebin or the like to just paste the link of the log file instead of actually pasting the entire log file too (or use dropbox / mega / etc to upload the carepackage to and paste that link in here).

Hey I'm really sorry for the delay, life and work was busy, here is the link to the carepackage where I tried pulling issues again.

No worries, life happens!

So in looking at the new carepackage, I found one with a cover (the vampirella #20) one, but that issue is actually almost 40mb in size, so it wouldn't have been rejected as a 'covers only' issue - as it's a full issue but includes the 4 additional covers within.

Other than that, there were no other snatches regarding covers - and well, it was all in INFO level logging, so it's not really much help in figuring out what's happening at that level. You can try to throw mylar into DEBUG mode (see here), and then try to re-snatch one of the trouble issues it snatched incorrectly.

Unfortunately, for things like this - I need to see what's happening (ie. the DEBUG mode logging) and to have it incorrectly grab a cover for me to try and figure it out (as I cant' seem to duplicate it on my end at all - atm at least).

Ok so here we go, so I have tried downloading Aquaman Comics over again that were downloading covers. Instead of getting covers it keeps getting .jpg versions and another version called .r325 files. Neither of these files are useful for me lol.

Here is the carepackage:

Let me know what I can do to fix this

Mylar will only download cbr & cbz files only, but it's based on what they're named from the indexer.

The problem is that in your case when Mylar snatched a file based on what it said it was (the aquaman cb) - after downloading the nzb, it wasn't actually named the same as what the indexer indicated (the .r333 /.r325) and so mylar doesn't touch those. Unless you have a script setup to extract stuff after it downloads, this is probably a problem with the nzb file on the indexer.

I'd try a different indexer (or disable geek and try again, since that's where it was from) - odds are pretty good that you just grabbed a crappy download and Mylar wouldn't post-process it (again, this is the correct method - otherwise, we'd be post-processing rar files, etc).

If you have failed downloading enabled, you could also just mark that issue as Failed - in which case it marks the last successful download as a Failed download and any subsequent searching for that particular issue (whether you mark it as Wanted, or just try to manually search for it) will ignore the failed download if it comes back in a search result.
