Unable to add comics, just stuck on searching.

Post by Warborg » Fri Dec 28, 2018 5:08 am

This week I find I'm unable to add any comics, I'll hit add and then when I go into the comic listing it's stuck on (Comic information is currently being loaded) and will just endlessly cycle that screen. It was also having difficulty importing from my imports folder, had to copy them into the respective folders and then I could go into the comics in Mylar and refresh files and it would find them.

Version: 0c9ed00a13d37a9d83db49b7cc1669f26d5ec80c (development)

Hi - I assume this is an existing and previously working installation?

What os is this on? What branch and commit? Can you post some debug logs please?

Can’t recreate it, so we need to dig into what’s happening on your install...

Ok, well I just updated Mylar and tried to add the new Superior Spider-Man again, same thing is happening. I did actually post my version number in the initial post, but I'll give all specs below. Here is a clip from the debug log when I try to add it:

Also, if I try to delete the comic while it's trying to download the data I'll get this:

500 Internal Server Error

And just to make sure, I tried to add the new X-Force as well to get the debug from it, got this:

2 different things from the logs:

- something is wrong in your Folder Format field (last tab in configuration settings). My guess is that because you're using Windows, you probably have a slash going the incorrect way for your OS (ie. Should be / for Linux, \ for Windows). With Windows the wrong slash will be interpreted as an escape character, not a directory seperator.
- one of your newznab entries is down / not responsive. Disable it.

Ok, I'll check the configuration... My big ask on this is why has it been working just fine until last week and this became a problem? I haven't changed anything on my end... Is it possible one of the updates may have flipped this character?

Ok, I found the flipped / (\) in the advanced config under folder renaming and corrected it, seems to be working normally. So my question stands though, it's been working just fine until last week, so is it possible one of the updates flipped that character?

As to the provider, it's just cause I haven't re-upped VIP so it hit it's API limit I believe...

It got modified within the last few commits to try and correct incorrect slashes. So it's not that it flipped the character, but the fact that the slashes on some users folder format string were the wrong slashes for the system they run on.

Users were using the example Folder Format string as the basis for theirs, and not adjusting the slash to their corresponding OS. Any slashes in the Folder Format string are considered directory structures, and the example string is $Publisher/$Series ($Year) which is fine for Linux, but for Windows users it can cause problems depending on the series.

If the subsequent character after one of the incorrect slashes was an actual escape character (and the / on windows denotes the start of an escape character sequence), then it would throw off pretty much everything related to the directory.

So basically, yeah it got switched - but it was a necessity due to circumstances.

Ok, makes sense... Thanks for the help. It works once again, so I'm happy. :)
