Import not creating CBZ

Post by oldirtdog » Fri Jul 27, 2018 6:29 pm

For some reason, new imports as of a few days ago are coming in as CBR (original file) and not renaming to CBZ... has something happened or am I missing something?

Depends on what you're doing when you mean an import - are you meaning they're not importing using the Import A Directory option ? using manual post-processing ? normal downloading and subsequent post-processing ?

If it's not renaming to cbz (ie. metatagging), odds are it's probably something simple that been changed btwn updates (ie. the ComicRN cfg file changed to include an apikey and not use the username / password anymore is one instance of a possible affected change).

Try to get a debug log from Mylar showing a failure of the cbz and the leadup to the error (if there is one, or to the point where it just stops otherwise).

You can see it finds the file, sees the correct matching info, but then it just stops and does nothing.

According to the log, it says there are 0 items that match on your watchlist - do you have the 'Batman Year One' series on your watchlist? I realize the one you added is a TPB, since the Year One is arc containing 4 issues from the main series - but it should still be able to add it since you have the issue # in the filename.

no, it's not in my watchlist... By watchlist, do you mean the Wanted list? If so, I don't really use it that much... I certainly have imported comics without the being in there before... I can add it with a manual scan and import, but it doesn't create the CBZ and the auto-import just doesn't work at all...

In order for an issue to be manual post-processed (or post-processed in general) it has to exist on your watchlist. Otherwise, it will ignore it and not perform any post-processing. The only exception to this is if you were choose the 'One-Off' option from the weekly pulllist as that will perform post-processing/metatagging (in some instances).

If you have issues that aren't on your watchlist and you want to add them to Mylar, then you'd have to use the manual scan & import process, which will not perform metatagging as it's job is to just import the items into Mylar. Once they're in Mylar you can perform manual meta-tagging via the series page itself (or even from the Manage tab/Manage Comics option). Or if you prefer to have manual post-processing run against the series, then you could just add the series via the search option at the top of any page (or use the comicID, or even use the ComicVine Userscript which will add series directly from CV when you're browsing the CV website), add the series and then manual post-processing would pick it up thereafter.

wow... I had no idea about the watchlist thing... my main problem here is in the conversion from CBR to CBZ... that's what I want so the manual meta tagging will actually become an option... so, from what your'e saying, the only way to trigger this conversion would be to add a comic into my watchlist or already have the series in my library before a manual/auto import?

You'd have to add the series into your watchlist in some manner prior to performing a manual post-processing in order for metatagging to work.

If you're using a downloader to snatch the item (ie. SABnzbd, NZBGet), then using the Completed Download Handling option (or the ComicRN script, but not both) would invoke the metatagging upon successful downloading. Otherwise the Folder Monitor option whereby it monitors a folder every X minutes for new files, or the manual post-processing where you can point it to look for new files in a specific folder one time will both perform metatagging upon successful matching.

Even if you have the series in your watchlist, and the items are imported as CBR files, you can perform a mass-metagging option either via the metatagging option on the series detail page, or from within the Manage Series option on the Manage tab.

You cannot import a series that is already in your watchlist - it won't perform the process and spit back something along the lines of 'the series is already in your watchlist, you should be doing a manual post-processing perhaps.' I think you might have gotten perhaps a bit confused about the terminology difference between an import and a manual post-processing, which didn't help when trying to figure things out ;)

Ok, maybe I need to start over then. Here's how I do things:

I download files using Deluge and they are automatically moved into the Mylar imports folder. That folder is watched in the settings of mylar and checked every 5 minutes. I'm fairly sure I had it to where it would create CBZ files and create the metatags on files as they were imported. Sometimes I used it manually and sometimes it's auto. What I want is to have the CBR files converted to cbz and automatically tagged. How should I best do this?

These should all be enabled:

- Enable Post-Processing
- Enable Metadata Tagging
- Write ComicRack (cr) tags (Comicinfo.xml)
- Write ComicBookLover (cbl) tags (zip comment)
- Overwrite existing cbz tags (if they exist)
