view issue details

Post by ludwig »

I saw previous discussions but it looked like those issues had been resolved.

I recently got the comictagger working and have been trying it out.

But when I try to view issue details, i get an error.

first it comes up with this:

then this:

I'm (still) on ubuntu 14.04, with the latest (as of 2 days ago) dev build.

It actually has to do with how the jpg/png files within the cbz file are structured.

If the main cover of the comic isn't indicated as such within the cbz (ie. mycomic00.jpg, mycomic00a.jpg, mycomic001.jpg) then Mylar won't be able to pick it up.

I'm not sure (I just can't recall atm), if it matters if the jpgs are in a subdirectory within the cbz file iteslf. I know for sure that if the files are in the root of the cbz, then it's not a problem as long as the structure is at that.

I've also found that in the cases where these errors popup, if you do a manual meta-tag on the given issue (meaning click on the meta-tagging icon beside the issue), and let it re-tag the item again - it clears up the problem.

If you can - before you try the above fix (if you do), can you paste the contents of the cbz file that's having the problems? Or even say if the jpgs/pngs are in a subdirectory within the cbz file.

well, so far, it is all files i've tried to view. most of mine ARE in subdirectories within the file.

For example, i had all-new hawkeye #1. it was a cbr file. I had mylar do the manual retagging and it is now a cbz. At that point the option t view details became available but it gives the errors I indicated.

here's the last parts of the log

Code: Select all

Well I've checked some of my own issues, both with subdirectories and no subdirectories within the cbz and all of them are displaying properly.

The only other thing I can think of is that it might have to do with the type of tagging that's being done - are you using ComicRack tagging or ComicBookLover tagging (or both)?

The last way to definitely check is to send me the cbz file so I can check to see what errors (or problems) it's throwing on my system when I would try and open it up.

The tagging is (supposedly) being done using the comictagger/configparser that i just recently got working in mylar.

Which leads me to what might be a dumb question. looking around online a little, i think i might see the problem. From what I'm understanding, metadata is stored in an xml file within the cbz, is this correct? Because it doesn't look like the comictagger process is adding that file. or is this just how comicrack does it?

EDIT: this may be more appropriate in the how to section. I think the issue is that I may not know what I'm doing with the metatagging in mylar. The process is running, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. In comic rack, i converted a file to cbz and it automatically added the xml file into the archive. That file shows up correctly when I click on 'view issue details' but it has nothing more than the cover image, page count, and file name. no summary info or anything else.

From what I can see in the logs, everything is doing what it is supposed to but nothing is showing up as metadata.

Thread-10 : [META-TAGGER] ComicTagger 1.1.10-beta being used - personal ComicVine API key not supported in this version. Good luck.
This. You're using an outdated version of comictagger which doesn't support individual comicvine api keys, which basically means it can't do anything.

Grab the latest comictagger and you won't have any further problems - although you'll have to retag the issues that had failed previously.

ah, well, that would definitely explain it.

do you know what the latest version is? I think 1.1.15 beta is the most recent I've been able to find.

1.1.15-beta is the most recent / last release. It has the ability eto use personal comicvine api keys which is what's required (note you don't have to do anything different if you're just using it with mylar, mylar will use the comicvine api key entered in the configuration tabs with comictagger too)
