Status descriptions?

Hi there -

Still figuring out how this all works. I understand wanted vs snatched vs downloaded, but I'm not sure on the meaning of the other statuses.

For example, how do I mark something as already read? I have already read Aquaman 0-15 prior to finding Mylar for example, and they're all marked as wanted or downloaded in Mylar. How do I tell Mylar I've read them already but I still want #16 and all future episodes?

Thanks!

Well they are 2 separate status' - one relates to the downloading/management, the other relates to the reading lists. Both are separate of each other, but they do work together in some instances (confusing I know). Mylar is a downloader/manager first, and the reading list type stuff isn't really a part of it. I'll try and explain a bit more :

So if you've already read those particular issues, the first thing you should do is either mark the issues as being either in a Downloaded status if they're not already (make sure the issues exist in the series directory if you keep them), or mark said issues as either Archived or Ignored. Either of these last 2 status will force Mylar to not go looking for things, but your counts increment as normal for totals sake. Archived is a status used for when the issue was either present at one point and can't be found now by Mylar, or if you keep the issues elsewhere/dont' care where and don't want them again. Ignored status is the same - it tells Mylar to ignore the issue as you have no interest in obtaining it.

If you want Mylar to download future issues - you really don't have to do anything. As long as you have the series on your watchlist (the main screen showing all your series at a glance is your 'watchlist'), Mylar will automatically keep an eye out for any future issues and download them accordingly (it will mark them as Wanted on the Weekly tab as they are released, then queued into a Wanted status where it will search until found) - the only setting you need to ensure is enabled for this, is the 'Automatically Mark Upcoming Issues as Wanted' on the Advanced Settings tab of the Configuration. To ensure things go even more smoothly, with Mylar shutdown set your alt_pull variable in the config.ini to 2 (ie. alt_pull = 2), which will ensure Mylar will use the most up-to-date information available as well as some additional benefits.

Now if you want to mark these issues as 'read', you don't have to do anything as it's not really a requirement to use Mylar. However, if you do want to track your reading of issues, you can use the reading list management within Mylar to help track what you've read/not read. This is on the Manage Comics/Advanced Options/ReadingList Management section. This is where the glasses icon for particular issues comes into play that you can find on each series detail page for a given series. Clicking on the glasses icon, will add the given issue to your 'reading list' where you can track/manage if you've read it or not. You can also transfer items to your tablet/3rd party device from the reading list management screen (android currently only supported via ssh server for transferring, but downloading individual issues is across the board).
